Head Coach Tyson Ditmore is happy to return to Horizon after his most recent coaching job at Glendale Mountain Ridge High School, where he served as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator. Now in his tenth year of coaching, Ditmore’s career has spanned multiple facets of the game, both as a player and a coach.
Ditmore played as a wide receiver, running back, and defensive back at Las Cruces High School (New Mexico), helping his team to victory in the 2002 5A state championship. He continued his career into the college arena, playing safety for four years for the University of New Mexico under the tutelage of Rocky Long. Ditmore’s college play culminated in UNM’s win over Nevada in the 2007 New Mexico Bowl championship, and he continued to excel in the sport as he played for two years in the Arena Indoor Football League as a jack linebacker, eventually becoming an on-field player-coach.
After a post-university career in the medical device sales field, Coach Ditmore felt a calling to return to the sport he loves, earning his post-baccalaureate degree in Special Education and embarking on his coaching career. His coaching experiences began at his alma mater in Las Cruces, quickly growing to new opportunities in Arizona, first at Paradise Valley High School and then on to Horizon. While coaching the Huskies, Ditmore coordinated the special teams, coached safeties, and was the JV head coach; his proudest moments came when he was part of the coaching staff for the 2021 5A state championship team.
