Coach Litten

Andy Litten - Varsity Head Coach

Andy Litten is coming from being an offensive coordinator at Hamilton High School the last three years.  Coach graduated from Mountain View in Tucson in 2000, went to the University of Arizona and majored in History and minoring in Physical Education.  He is a History and P.E. Teacher.  Andy Started coaching at Mountain View High School in Tucson as an assistant coach in 2002.  He became the Offensive Coordinator at Catalina Foothills High School in 2010, helping the team with their first playoff game in school history.  In 2012 he became the Head Coach of Marana High School in Tucson until 2018.  He won back to back region championships while at Marana helping them post back to back 9-3 records.  At Hamilton, he helped the team reach the open eight the last two years, with the team reaching the semifinals in 2019, and the finals in 2020.  Coach Litten and his wife, Audrey have one son, Ledger, two step sons, Jacob and Jonathon and two rescue dogs, Cooper and Ollie

Coach Carranza

Jeff Carranza - Receivers Coach & JV Head Coach

Jeff Carranza is coming from being a Varsity/JV coach for Higley High School for 4 seasons. Coach graduated from Marana High School in 2013, where he played for fellow Horizon coaches Andy Litten and Cam Weirson. Jeff started coaching for Andy at his alma mater after graduating from Marana as a JV WR coach. Jeff took a break from coaching after 1 season at Marana to serve a service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 2016 he started coaching for Higley High School as an assistant coach for JV and Varsity levels. Jeff was blessed to be a part of some great Higley teams that made the state semifinals 3 out of the 4 years of him being on staff. He also got to coach some of Arizona's top high school players at Higley. Jeff owns his own personal training company, Sub Zero Athletics, where he helps high school and college athletes reach their full potential in the specific sports they compete in. Jeff was just recently married on January 16th 2021 to his beautiful wife Carly.

Josiah Pola- Corners

Coach Pola-Gates was a two-sport varsity athlete who played and graduated from Hamilton HS class 14’, He went on to accept a scholarship from Montana State University-Northern to study world history and major in criminal justice, but then immediately medically retired due to severe shoulder injuries. In 2015 - 2016 started volunteering for his uncle late Pittsburg Steelers HOF Safety, Troy Polamalu’s Non-profit organization. Next, he started positional volunteering at camps / combines / tournaments all across the country which then lead him to coaching high school football back here in AZ. During the 2021-22 season he held the DC / secondary coaching position at ALA West Foothills helping lead them to playoffs on their first year opening the school. Now he is a father of 3 & soon to be engaged to his beautiful best friend, Nina Marie. He is passionate about training youth athletes on speed / physicality / technique and football IQ. He is excited and ready to get to work for the huskies!!! 

Coach Bryan Lynn

Bryan Lynn - Running Backs

Bryan Lynn is coming to Horizon after being the offensive coordinator at Desert Mountain last year.  Coach went to Cactus Shadows High School and graduated in 2012 and furthered his education at Arizona State University where he graduated with a degree in Sociology. Coach Lynn began coaching at Chaparral High School in 2015 as an assistant coach. After being there for 4 years, he went to Desert Mountain High School for 2 more years before coming to join the Huskies

Coach Walker

Clayton Walker - Offensive Line

Clayton Walker has been at Horizon for 13 years as a Freshman/Varsity coach at Horizon high school. Coach graduated from Horizon High school in 2002, as a player he was a Frank Kush award winner. He later went to the University of Washington where he was a four year starter. He is a History teacher on Campus. Clayton started coaching at Horizon in 2008 where he coached Freshman football as the offensive line and defensive coordinator until 2011. Coach has since been the Varsity Offensive line coach at Horizon High school for the last ten years. Coach Walker and his wife, Amber have 2 daughters, Ruth, and Skyler.

Ben Burnell - Linebackers Coach & JV Defensive Coordinator

Ben is an Arizona native who attended Horizon High School and Scottsdale Community College, playing football for both, prior to joining the Navy. He spent four years in the Navy as a Plane Captain and Aviation Ordnanceman. While stationed in Japan, he had the opportunity to play for the Yokosuka Seahawks football team in the X-League. After leaving the Navy, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Performance Programming from Arizona State University while coaching with Triple Threat. Ben is currently a strength coach for Triple Threat Performance and the Scottsdale Community College Baseball team as well as the linebackers coach at his alma mater, Horizon High School. 

Ben expects the best from his athletes and from himself. He works to ensure they carry that standard through all aspects of life. His goal is to have athletes walk away with the knowledge that their physical and mental limits are far beyond what they thought. Ben gets the best out of his athletes by creating a foundation of trust that reaches beyond coach and athlete because he believes that people will give their best for people they trust.
